My real estate practice focuses on the acquisition, sale, financing, and leasing of office, warehouse, multi-family and retail properties.  I can assist you with:

  • represented the buyer in the acquisition of a 1,200 acre ranch
  • represented the borrower in the $10.5 million refinance of an office building

Commercial Litigation

My commercial practice focuses on the representation of suppliers and subcontractors in the enforcement of mechanic's and materialman's lien and surety bond claims.  I repare and file mechanic's and materialman's lien affidavits and advise clients on giving property notice pursuant to the private and public work statutes.  I also represent landlords in commercial lease disputes and evictions.  I have significant experience in the collection of accounts receivable, the enforcement of judgments, and the domestication and enforcement of foreign judgments in both state and federal court.

Representative Cases:

  • obtained and collected judgment for a supplier on a payment bond against a surety claiming defective notice to the bankrupt general contractor
  • successfully defended an owner's motion for summary judgment alleging a defective legal description in a mechanic's lien affidavit and negotiated a favorable settlement for the supplier
  • negotiated a favorable settlement of a statutory retainage claim against an owner claiming a lien affidavit was not timely filed
  • collected 100% of a judgment in favor of a subcontractor against the subsequent owner of the subject property
  • negotiated a favorable settlement for a supplier against an owner claiming that material was diverted and stolen by the subcontractor
  • successfully defended a supplier against a preference action brought by the subcontractor's bankruptcy trusteee
  • collected 100% of funds owed to suppler from owner despite general contractor's bankruptcy on basis of trust fund statute
  • negotiated favorable settlement for supplier on surety bond claims involving multiple school district projects after subcontractor filed bankruptcy and owner claimed material had been diverted
  • negotiated favorable settlement for supplier against owner claiming late notice and lien affidavit not timely filed
  • domesticated and collected 100% of foreign judgment against successor owner of school bus company
  • enforced judgment lien against subsequent owner of property resulting in collection of 100% of judgment


My corporate practice focuses on the formation, conversion and termination of corporations, limited liability companies, general partnerships, limited partnerships, professional corporations, professional associations and not-for-profit corporations.  Most corporate matters are handled on a fixed-fee basis.
